What is Moneyversity?

Moneyversity is an online financial educational tool that empowers you to make the most of your money. It’s a source of trusted information where you can watch fun videos, read interesting articles, play games and complete Courses on how to manage your money and reach your financial goals.

How do I sign up?

Registration is completely FREE! First off, create your Moneyversity student card. Simply click the Sign Up button on the Home Page, and fill in your details. We’ll send you an activation email to confirm your account. And just like that, you’re enrolled!

Where do I start?

We recommend starting with the Demo course. It’s a great way to learn the basics and how to get the most out of Moneyversity. From there, feel free to browse and complete the Topics and Courses that are most interesting and relevant to you.

What does Old Mutual have to do with Moneyversity?

Moneyversity is an Old Mutual initiative that teaches you how to work better with your money so it can work better for you. It was designed by financial experts to help you understand and manage your personal finances like a pro. After engaging with the Moneyversity platform, you will be better positioned to venture into the Old Mutual ecosystem – where you can engage a qualified Adviser or purchase products and service

Can I use Moneyversity on my phone?

Absolutely! Moneyversity is totally mobile friendly and can be used on your phone to get your fix of financial know-how on the go.

Topics & Courses

What are Topics?

Whether you want to learn how to manage your money, plan for retirement or invest in property, Moneyversity covers different Topics to help you reach a specific financial goal. Within each Topic, there are several Courses for you to complete.

How many Topics are there?

There are 4 Topics available at the moment:

  1. Surviving on what you have
  2. Keeping some money for yourself
  3. Securing a bright future
  4. Working towards your dreams

How do Courses work?

Within each Topic there are several Courses. Each Course will teach you about a different financial issue in 3 easy steps:

Step 1: Course Modules

Modules are made up of videos, games, infographics, calculators, and articles that give you in-depth information about the specific Topic covered in each Course.

Step 2: Course Quizes

Once you’ve worked your way through all the Modules, you’ll unlock 3 quizzes. Each quiz contains 5 randomly generated questions that are specific to a completed course. Score above 4/5 to pass a quiz.

Step 3: Course Certificates

You need at least 12 correct answers across all 3 Quizzes in a Course to earn your Course Certificate. If you answer every Quiz question correctly, you’ll receive a Cum Laude Course Certificate.

If you do not answer enough questions correctly to pass a quiz, you can immediately try again.

Do I need to do the Courses in any particular order?

No. Just choose the ones that interest you most.

What is the Old Mutual Rewards Programme?

It is a free rewards programme owned and managed by Old Mutual. It enables registered members to earn points for participating in certain activities. Members can then spend their earned points in various ways such as to convert and reinvest the points into qualifying Old Mutual products, buying vouchers to pay for products at rewards partners, or to donate points to charities.

How do I earn Old Mutual Rewards Points?

There are a number of ways you can earn Bright Sparks:

  • Watch a Video

    Earn 10 Old Mutual Rewards points for watching a video on Moneyversity.

  • Complete Course Content

    Earn 10 Old Mutual Rewards points for each item of completed content, this includes articles, infographics, calculators and more!

  • Complete a Quiz

    Earn 10 Old Mutual Rewards points for passing a quiz on Moneyversity.

  • Earn a Certificate

    Earn an additional 40 Old Mutual Rewards points when you earn a certificate on Moneyversity.The certificate shows that you have completed all the course modules and have completed all three course quizzes.

  • More ways to earn

    There are many more ways to increase your financial knowledge and earn more points with Old Mutual Rewards.Continue to take control of your finances with Old Mutual Rewards by assessing your saving and spending habits, using our calculators and other financial tools to make better financial decisions.

What are Course Badges?

  • Course Badges are awarded for successfully completing a Course Quiz. They’re a fun way to display all your accomplishments as well as share and compare with your Moneyversity friends. Course Badges are yours to keep and they will never expire.

What are Milestone Badges?

In addition to Course Badges, you can also earn badges for reaching certain milestones:

  • Prolific Badge:
    Complete all fields in your profile

  • Sharing Badge:
    Share content 5 times

  • 5 Certificates Badge:
    Earn 5 Course Certificates

  • 2 Certificates Badge:
    Earn 2 Course Certificates

  • Room for Improvement Badge:
    When scoring 1 out of 5 (or lower) on a quiz

What can I do with the Certificate I’ve earned?

  • The Certificates are proof that you’ve completed a Course. You know all there is to know about that Topic. Well done, you’re on your way to becoming financially savvy!

What happens when I complete all the Courses?

How do I access the courses

We have organised our courses in easy to navigate topics to help you get started where it will help you the most. Courses can be accessed from the drop down menu, through the Topics page or by clicking on one of the highlighted courses on the Home Page.

Troubleshooting

I didn’t receive an activation email

Try checking your spam folder. If that doesn’t work, you may have entered your email address incorrectly. Try signing up again using the correct email address.

What are the requirements when creating a password?

Your password must meet the following criteria:

  • At least 8 characters long
  • A mix of upper and lowercase characters
  • Include at least one digit (e.g. 0-9)
  • No spaces or tabs
  • Not based on your username

I can’t remember my password

No worries. Just go to the Login page and click ‘Forgot Password’. Enter your email address, and we’ll send you an email with a link to reset your password. If you’re already logged into your account and would like to change your password, go to your Profile page, scroll down and select ‘change password’.

I’m having trouble logging in

Try refreshing the page and enter your password again. If that doesn’t work, try using a different browser. Still having trouble? Contact support.
